What is MyMedicare

MyMedicare is a voluntary patient registration program that aims to formalise the relationship between patients and their healthcare providers.

Healthcare providers include your:

  • General practice
  • General practitioner / regular doctor
  • Primary care teams

By registering as a patient of St Kilda Medical Group and selecting your preferred GP, additional funding will be available from the government to assist your primary care team in delivering the care you need.

Registering with MyMedicare is voluntary and free.

We ask that you delegate St Kilda Medical Group as your usual GP clinic when registering with MyMedicare

Benefits – MyMedicare is a quick and simple process that offers benefits such as

  • Greater continuity of care with your doctor
  • Longer Medicare Benefit Scheme (MBS) funded telehealth consultations with your GP
  • Improved health outcomes through formalised relationships

Eligibility

You’re eligible to register in MyMedicare if you have:

  • a Medicare card or Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Veteran Card
  • Patients who have had two face-to-face consultations with GPs at the clinic in the past 24 months are eligible to register for MyMedicare

How to Register

  • Click the links above through the HotDoc registration form or visit the MyGov website for more information and access to online forms.
  • We ask that you delegate St Kilda Medical Group as your usual GP clinic when registering with MyMedicare

In person at our clinic

Alternatively, visit St Kilda Medical Group and complete a registration form at the reception. By signing the form, you grant consent to our staff to register you in MyMedicare. Our team will then finalise the registration within the MyMedicare system on your behalf.

MyMedicare FAQs

If someone you know is incapable of providing consent to register in MyMedicare, a responsible person can provide consent and register on their behalf.

This can be the parent or guardian of a minor, a person who holds power of attorney or a guardianship order, or the next of kin.

If you believe someone in your care will benefit from registering in MyMedicare, talk to their GP or, for people in residential aged care homes, their residential aged care provider.

It’s free. You don’t have to pay to register or to maintain your registration.

Registration began on 1 October 2023.

St Kilda Medical Group is fully registered with MyMedicare.
